They have a truck and a phone number, they buy your car, and they sell it on to a licensed facility for more than they paid you. There is nothing improper about it, but there is a margin in the middle, and it comes out of your price.
We process vehicles at our own facility in Hume. When you sell to us there is no intermediate sale, which is the whole reason direct-to-yard pricing is worth seeking out.
The sequence is the same for every vehicle. It is booked in against the record of purchase, then depolluted — fuel, engine oil, transmission and brake fluid, coolant and refrigerant all drained and captured, and the battery removed. Only then does dismantling begin.
Salvageable components are removed, tested and inventoried for resale. The catalytic converter is taken for separate processing. What remains is a stripped shell, which goes for metal recycling by weight.
If the car still runs and you would rather deal with it in one trip, you are welcome to bring it to the yard. Some people prefer this — it is quick, and you see where the vehicle ends up.
It makes no difference to what you are paid. There is no premium for delivering it yourself and no deduction for us collecting it, because the free tow is already built into how we price. Choose whichever is less trouble for you.
Nothing about the process is meant to be opaque. The vehicle is assessed on the same factors we would have discussed on the phone: whether the driveline is intact and turning, what parts are recoverable, whether the catalytic converter is present, and what the shell weighs.
If any of that differs from what was described, the driver or yard staff will tell you exactly what changed and why before anything is signed. You can decline and take the car home. We would rather lose a purchase than have someone feel they were worked over at the last minute.
Our yard operates under the ACT’s environmental and motor vehicle requirements, which means captured fluids, proper battery and tyre disposal, and records kept of every vehicle bought and processed.
For you the practical benefit is documentary. You get a receipt of sale establishing that the vehicle left your ownership on a specific date — which matters if anything involving that car ever surfaces later.
The yard is in Hume, in the ACT’s south-east industrial area just off the Monaro Highway. It is a short run from Fyshwick, Symonston and the Tuggeranong Valley, and comfortably reachable from anywhere in Canberra or Queanbeyan. We do not run a retail shopfront or sell parts over the counter to the public — call first and we will arrange a time.

No, you do not. Since we are a licensed motor vehicle dealer buying cars for wrecking or resale, we purchase them "as-is". This saves you the time and money of getting an inspection.
We often offer same-day service! If you call us in the morning, we can usually collect your vehicle by the afternoon. We can also schedule a specific time that works for you.
The value depends on the make, model, weight, and condition of the vehicle. We offer competitive rates based on current metal prices and parts demand. Call us for a free quote!
Yes. Unregistered, written-off, flood or hail damaged, and vehicles that don’t start are all accepted. We handle the ownership transfer paperwork and can advise on cancelling registration, so there’s nothing extra for you to organise.
It depends on the payout figure owing versus the value of the car. Give us a call and we’ll talk through your specific situation — in many cases the finance needs to be settled as part of the sale, and we can explain exactly how that works before you commit to anything.
Not usually. We can talk you through reporting missing plates when we arrange the ownership transfer, so it doesn’t hold up the sale or leave you exposed to fines or tolls on plates that are no longer on the car.
This comes up often with inherited vehicles or family cars. If you’re the executor of an estate or otherwise legally authorised to sell the vehicle, we can complete the sale — just mention your situation when you call so we can explain exactly what’s needed.
Yes, we regularly collect multiple vehicles from the same property in one visit — a common scenario for deceased estates, business fleets, or a household clearing out several old cars at once. Let us know how many when you call so we can plan the pickup properly.
Not at all. Every quote is free and obligation-free. You’re welcome to compare it against other offers before deciding, and there’s no pressure or cost involved in simply asking what your car is worth.
A pure scrap metal price only accounts for the weight of the steel. We factor in reusable parts, make and model demand, and current market conditions as well, which is usually why our offer comes in higher than a straight per-tonne scrap price — plus we come to you and tow it for free.
Every ACT district — Belconnen, Gungahlin, Tuggeranong, Woden Valley, Inner North, Inner South, Weston Creek and Molonglo Valley — plus Queanbeyan and the surrounding NSW region. If you’re unsure whether your specific street is covered, just give us a call; the answer is almost always yes.
Our focus is passenger cars, SUVs, utes, and vans, including business and fleet vehicles. If you have something outside that range, give us a call and we’ll let you know honestly whether it’s something we can help with.
